Visitor Sessions & Page Views

Every page a visitor opens with the RapidMetrics tracking script is recorded as a page view inside a session. A new session starts on their first visit, and again whenever they come back through a new ad or link (new UTM parameters, click ID or ad IDs). Otherwise the page view is added to their current session, so one session can cover several days or even weeks.

What Gets Captured Per Session

  • When the session started and when it was last active
  • IP address and user agent
  • UTM parameters from the landing URL
  • All page views during the session
  • The landing page (the first page of the session)
  • Facebook tracking IDs (fbp, fbc, fbclid) and the ad IDs from your ad link

Linking Sessions to Contacts

A session becomes linked to a named contact when the visitor submits a form with their email. Until then the session is anonymous.

Viewing Sessions

Open Contacts and click a contact. Their sessions are listed in the Visitor Sessions section, most recently active first. Each one shows its dates, funnel, landing page, device, IP address and Facebook tracking IDs. Click the pages viewed line (for example "3 pages viewed") to see every page they opened.
